Can a Vessel Performing Towage Services Be Regarded as a Tow at the Same Time?

Under a Hull & Machinery insurance policy the word “tow” means only a “towed element” and does not include the other tugs of the flotilla different from the one which is responsible for the navigation of the flotilla (“lead tug”). The insurance cover for risks of collision in the Hull & Machinery policy, which includes the damages caused by provoking the collision of a “towed unit” with a ship or a fixed structure, does not cover the damages caused by the insured tug, as “lead tug”, to the other tugs of the flotilla”
