La protezione ambientale in Abruzzo: tra immaginario e realtà

Environment has been particularly emphasized in the planning scheme of the Abruzzo region since its establishment, thus laying the foundations for a regional development programme that combines socio-economic growth and environmental protection within a policy of territorial re-balancing. This paper aims at verifying the policy of environmental protection implemented by the Abruzzo region since the 1990s, whereas the framework law 394/1991 should have represented a significant instrument of governance and territorial planning for inland mountain areas within a process of regional re-balancing needed to cope with the crystallization of a strongly central-peripheral structure much to the advantage of coastal and hill areas.
