The Italian production of kiwi is one of the most important in the world. His quantitative and economic importance varies a lot at territorial level, with a strong vocation in some regions (mainly Lazio, Piemonte, Emilia-Romagna and Veneto). At national level, the 2008 kiwi production was more than 450 thousand tons, confirming a growth that has been over 40%, beginning from the first Nineties. Starting from this brief scenario, the objective of our work is to analyze the kiwi sector in relation to the component run by the Producer Organisations (POs). In particular, the work aims at analyzing economic and structural relevance of POs in Italian kiwi production and their strategic orientations. Furthermore, the idea is to investigate the opportunities that the national kiwi sector will have with the implementation of the 2007 fruit and vegetables CMO reform[...]
