Manners of decision in Twentieth century political thought

The Twentieth century has been the one (in this meaning never too much "brief", taking back the famous Hobsbawm’s definition) in which the human being was most offended particularly through "totalitarianisms" maturing in an arrogant culture that reduces men to things. A mentality that can substantially affirm itself without oppositions, or without responsible decisions.In Hannah Arendt’s opinion masses are different from “classes” made up of people having in common affairs and values: masses are made up of solitary individuals without active social bonds, a shapeless matter that can be mouldable through the propagandist tools of ideology. In other words, an immense quantity of individuals who are incapable of deciding and carving out for their own a dimension of cultural and operational autonomy (not by chance the Italian for “to carve out” derives from the Latin verb “de-caedo” that means “to cut”, “to separe”); masses, for definition, don’t choose.[...]
