The ‘One Health’ Approach within the Inter-American System for Human Rights Protection, as Framed by the Court of San José This article designs the process undertaken by the Inter-American Commission and the Inter-American Court in the interpretation and ap-plication of the American system on human rights, in order to strengthen the link between the rights enshrined in the aforementioned system and the protection of the environment in broad terms, in light of the ‘One Health’ approach. To this end, the article focus, on the one hand, on the case-law relating to the protection of the territorial vulnerability of indig-enous communities, the protection of human health through the preser-vation of the environment, in terms of a healthy environment and the en-joyment of ‘Mother Earth’, and, on the other hand, on the Advisory Opinion OC-23/17 on the relationship between the environment and hu-man rights. The assessment of these orientations shows the positive atti-tude, especially of the Inter-American Court, to considering ‘One Health’ as a unified and coordinated approach, perhaps in a hidden way.
