This PhD thesis concerned the development of protocols for the extraction and analysis of microplastic content in the clam Chamelea gallina by two different types of analytical techniques, Raman microspectroscopy (µRaman) and analytical pyrolysis coupled with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS). The development and characteristics of the two protocols were documented and discussed, and the analytical procedures were applied to the analysis of samples of clams collected in the Adriatic Sea for the characterization of microplastics content in this mollusc.

Abstract
This PhD thesis concerned the development of protocols for the extraction and analysis of microplastic content in the clam Chamelea gallina by two different types of analytical techniques, Raman microspectroscopy (µRaman) and analytical pyrolysis coupled with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS). The development and characteristics of the two protocols were documented and discussed, and the analytical procedures were applied to the analysis of samples of clams collected in the Adriatic Sea for the characterization of microplastics content in this mollusc.File in questo prodotto:
