The article is dedicated to the analysis of a historical themed engraving, conceived in the autumn of 1800 by Louis-Eugène Poirier de Dunkerque (1777-1818). Entitled Tableau général de la Révolution française, terminée par celui de la Paix, this image, which was only partially realized in the spring of 1802, is a veritable (visual) history of the French Revolution. Close to Napoleon’s younger brother Lucien, Poirier is best known for having commissioned another historical engraving dedicated to the Terror. The aim of this contribution is to interpret the contents and political meanings of the Tableau, in the light of the turbulent relationship between the Bonaparte brothers.
