Abstract. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on the decision-making choices of individuals. However, the economic crisis in Italy was not only due to the pandemic. Italian economic growth had already languished compared to that of other countries. In comparing Italy’s Gross Domestic Product growth with that of Spain – a country with a highly similar cultural and economic structure – it becomes apparent that the reforms carried out in Italy have not always been coherent and targeted, thus having little overall impact. Economic growth inevitably passes through the revision of regulations because it is only through this process that a country becomes more institutionally modern. Amongst all sectors in Italy, justice requires urgent action in terms of streamlining procedures to reduce the time and number of legal proceedings.
