Recall, the instrument of direct democracy which is used to revoke elected representatives, plays a special role in modern democracies. As well as being a means used in the struggle between parties, it is also an instrument of democracy within political formations, aimed at stimulating internal debate. This figure is however influenced by the degree of institutionalization of the parties and by the regulation of the institute, as shown by the analyzed cases of the United States and Latin American countries.
