Abstract The L'Aquila earthquake hit an area of Abruzzo whose economy has long been marginalized, as a consequence of both its inland geographic position – though partially recentralized by the construction of motorway links with Rome, and the crisis that arose from the policies of the Cassa per il Mezzogiorno which afflicted large outside industries originally located in L'Aquila. In addition to the many painful social consequences, the analysis of the economic and territorial outcomes of the L’Aquila catastrophe is a topic of considerable interest. In fact, the action of governance and government on a seismic event can not be prescinded from the knowledge of anthropic dynamics, from the extent of the damage caused, from the financial resources available for reconstruction, and from possible outcomes as a result of interventions by public autorities. In this context, the objective of this contribution is to define one of the aspects that relate to the above-mentioned anthropic dynamics and, more specifically, the one relating to migration conditions of the "crater" before and after the most recent seismic disaster of 2009 in Abruzzo, highlighting the territorial outcomes of the event.
