This contribution looks at the 2001 Cape Town Convention on International Interests on Mobile Equipment and its Protocols relating to aircraft and railway rolling stock from the perspective of Italian law. After briefly summarising the main features of Italian secured transactions law, with particular regard to the regime of devices that can be effectively created over the kind of assets covered by the Convention, the contribution focuses on specific aspects of the uniform law regime and compares them with Italian law. By way of conclusion, the compatibility of the main architecture of the Cape Town Convention with principles and rules underlying current Italian law is assessed.

Abstract
