This paper aims at analysing the main features of Nigerian English that, as almost every variety of world English, has now developed a set of distinctive features, chiefly related to pronunciation, spelling, grammar, vocabulary, word-formation, collocations and idioms. In order to carry on my analysis, the examples I will be showing you are all taken from articles published in the online version of three Nigerian English newspapers with a high circulation: The Guardian, Daily Independent and The Sun News-Online, Voice of the Nation, in the period from April 2005 to December 2007.[...]
