Artifactual and misleading changes in canine blood may occur in the measured analytes as a consequence of delayed analysis and storage temperature. The aim of this study was to evaluate these changes using the ADVIA 120. Blood samples of 29 healthy dogs were analyzed within 1 hour after collection and again after 6, 12, 24, 36 and 48 hours of storage at either 10°C, 20°C and 30°C. Delayed analysis resulted in a significant decrease of RBC, MCHC, RDW, total WBC, neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes and PLT values and in a significant increase of Hct, MCV, MPV, PDW and PCT values at different temperatures and times storage. This study suggests that both storage at 10°C and analysis within 24 hours of samples improve the accuracy of CBC results.

Abstract
This study suggests that both storage at 10°C and analysis within 24 hours of samples improve the accuracy of CBC results.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
