This thesis focuses on the Vaticinia pontificum, a prophetic-escatological work consisting of three illustrated papal prophecies: Genus Nequam (13th-14th century), Ascende Calve (first half of the 14th century) and Vaticinia pontificum (formed from the union of the previous two, dating from the early 15th century). This thesis is the result of an initial comprehensive study, analysed from an interdisciplinary perspective, i.e. from a historical, literary and philological point of view. The corpus comprises around 95 manuscripts and 202 printed editions, many of which have never been published before. The success of the Vaticinia has been colossal: with this research we are offering the scientific community, for the first time, a first recensio of the manuscripts and printed editions, which testifies to the importance that these prophecies had from the end of the Middle Ages onwards. We intend to continue working on the Vaticinia and, in time, produce a critical edition.

Abstract
We intend to continue working on the Vaticinia and, in time, produce a critical edition.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
