This research project compares gender policies in France and Italy. De- spite advancements in civil rights, gender disparities are nevertheless per- sistent and subtle in contemporary culture. Recent official documents place emphasis on the significance of gender equality in achieving more general objectives like digitalization, the green transition, and social inclusion. These documents include the Italian and French Recovery and Resilience Plans, the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and EU Directive 2023/970. The chapter explores the socioeconomic environment, theoretical frame- works, and compares the 2023–2027 French Inter-ministerial Plan for Equal- ity between Women and Men and the 2021–2026 Italian National Strategy for Gender Equality with a focus on disparities-at-work-related measures. Key conclusions and recommendations for further study are provided at the end.
