Lumpy Skin Disease caused by Lumpy skin disease virus (Poxviridae family - Capripoxvirus genus) is characterized by fever, nodules on the skin, emaciation and sometimes death of the animals. The disease affects cattle and causes huge economic losses, due to poor skin quality, reduced milk production, abortion and infertility in affected animals and is present in African countries, Middle East and European countries. One of the containing measures of the disease relays on the vaccination. Live attenuated vaccines have been used in endemic countries and their side effects are reported in literature because of cases of residual pathogenicity causing several concerns on the use of LSD live attenuated vaccines. Our study aimed to develop an inactivated DIVA vaccine for LSD and the assessment of its safety and efficacy in cattle. The results showed that the immune response of the animals was achieved starting seven days after the booster dose inoculation. The efficacy of the vaccine was demonstrated by the protection of vaccinated cattle from severe clinical signs when the animals were challenged.

Abstract
The efficacy of the vaccine was demonstrated by the protection of vaccinated cattle from severe clinical signs when the animals were challenged.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
