This study aims to reflect on the evolution and change of the concept of “care” in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Speaking about care today means, on the one hand, revisiting a concept that has been overlooked for many years in the humanities; on the other hand, encountering a diversity of discourses and practices of care that draw from various theoretical and practical fields, such as semiotics, philosophy, ethics, psychology, pedagogy, and medicine. The concept of care is not easily reducible to a single and unambiguous definition. It is closely connected to groups of terms such as therapy, clinic, health, well-being, but it is also used as a synonym for effort, concern, anxiety, restlessness, solicitude, as well as another way to understand attention, relationship, empathy, self-care, and more generally care for others. Moving from these premises, the research work aims at highlighting the different interpretations of the word “care”, to clarify its semantic boundaries and to better delineate its value of use, considering how the advent of Artificial intelligence has had an impact in his definition.
