This chapter explores the case of Saint Justin Martyr, whose relics were recently discovered in the convent church of St. Jerome in Puebla de los Ángeles, Mexico. This recovery represents an invaluable testimony of the presence of catacomb relics or corpisanti in Puebla during the eighteenth century. Analysis of surviving material and documentary source materials related to this relic sheds new light on connections between Rome and New Spain in the Americas during the long Counter-Reformation through the donations of Papal nephew Giovanni Antonio Guadagni (1674–1759), who served as Cardinal-Vicar of Rome under his uncle Pope Clement XII (r. 1730–1740), and Pope Benedict XIV (r. 1740–1758).

Abstract
1740–1758).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
