Livestock productions are accused of being co-responsible for global warming and environmental degradation. In the international literature there is a wide debate about the level of their contribution, however a substantial commitment is required to reduce its impact and increase the sustainability of the production chain. Argentina is one of the main producers of food of animal origin worldwide, therefore it is essential to reorient production towards environmental, ethical and economic sustainability, for a greater balance of the planet and as a possible commercial strategy. Therefore, it is necessary that future professionals know sustainability and its components in order to act, defend and improve it. The aim of this work is to determine the perception and knowledge of the “sustainability of livestock products” by a group of future professionals engaged in the livestock sector. They were surveyed 321 students of the Faculty of Agriculture of Lomas de Zamora - Buenos Aires. The results show a high evaluation for the dimensions of sustainability, higher for the environmental, followed by the social and economic. The knowledge of the dimensions is confused, only 10% of respondents identify them correctly. The sustainability of the feedlot supply chain received medium-low values, while grazing farming achieved high valuations.
