This article focuses on two topics: the first is a new interpretation of the sustainable development by using alternative indicators; the second is associated with the role of immigration on Italian territory and sustainable development. We established an econometric model applying data from Lab 24Ore used as indicators of the quality of life. The data have been matched with the presence of regular immigrates in Italy to build a panel data set of Italian provinces from 2012 to 2020. The empirical investigation has shown a negative significant statistical association between the quality-of-life indicators Wealth & Consumption and Justice & Security with the presence of regular immigrates. In addition, the results have shown a positive significant statistical association between the quality-of-life indicator Environment & Health with the regular immigration in the Italian provinces.
