In a letter found without certain data, probably inviting Don Giulio De Lugan to the end of May 1929, De Gasperi mentions Margherita Sarfatti's novel-documentary Dux, to denounce the lack of interest of catholic intellectuals towards literary novelty, which, on the contrary, it must have been subjected to a criticism, especially in the most subversive pages, that is to say relating to nietzschean philosophy advocated by Mussolini and to the qualification of fascism as a political religion. The novel was born simultaneously with the enactment of Pius XI's encyclical Quas primas (11 December 1925), with which the pontiff instituted the new liturgical feast of Christ the King. An attempt to repropose the bellarminian theory of indirect power, this vault with the support of the fascist dictatorship. In the letters here he comments on the deep concern for the Catholic politician both for the attempt to confuse totalitarianism with the christian message, and for the dangerous sliding of the catholic movement towards a mortal embrace with fascism. A recent historiographic hypothesis associates the figure of the italian leader with that of Nelson Mandela. This contribution aims to revisit the figure of De Gasperi in the light of Bruce Ackerman's essay, which proposes a new concept of constitutional revolution.
In una lettera rinvenuta senza data certa, probabilmente invita alla fine del mese di maggio del 1929 a don Giulio De Lugan, De Gasperi menziona il romanzo-documentario Dux di Margherita Sarfatti, per denunziare il disinteresse degli intellettuali cattolici verso la novità letteraria, che, al contrario, avrebbe dovuto essere sottoposta a serrata critica, specie nelle pagine più eversive, relative cioè alla filosofia nietzcheiana propugnata da Mussolini e alla qualificazione del fascismo come religione politica. Il romanzo vede la luce in contemporanea con l’emanazione dell’enciclica Quas primas (11 dicembre 1925) di Pio XI, con la quale il pontefice istituiva la nuova festa liturgica del Cristo Re. Un tentativo di riproporre la teoria bellarminiana del potere indiretto, questa volta con il supporto della dittatura fascista. Nelle lettere qui commentate traspare la profonda preoccupazione per il politico cattolico sia per il tentativo di confondere il totalitarismo con il messaggio cristiano, sia per il pericoloso scivolamento del movimento cattolico verso un abbraccio mortale con il fascismo. Il presente contributo si propone di rivisitare la figura di De Gasperi alla luce del sggio di Bruce Ackerman, che propone un nuovo concetto di rivoluzione costituzionale e associa la figura del leader trentino a quella di Nelson Mandela.
