RIASSUNTO - La trasformazione digitale si associa ad eventi che hanno modificato la struttura economica e sociale, caratterizzandosi per un alto livello di complessità e la piena integrazione della rete di prodotti e dei processi produttivi. Perseguire l’obiettivo di integrare i processi di business e quelli produttivi, consentendo alla produzione di raggiungere sistemi flessibili, efficienti ed ecosostenibili con costante alta qualità e bassi costi di produzione e distribuzione (la cosiddetta Industria 4.0), realizza il suo paradigma nella convergenza tra il mondo fisico e quello virtuale. L’articolo propone un’analisi critica degli elementi strategici che caratterizzano la transizione da un modello produttivo sub-urbano tipico dei passati insediamenti industriali rispetto alle nuove tipologie insediative richieste dall’Industria 4.0 e dall’orientamento generale della progettazione, con particolare riferimento alla regione Abruzzo, incentrata a prevenire le crisi climatiche e le ingiustizie economiche e sociali.

This paper takes a deep insight into the strategic elements defining the main distinctive components by comparing the old suburban production model dating back between the Seventies and the Eighties and the new settlement typologies dictated by Industry 4.0 and by general design trend, with a focus on Abruzzo, hinged on the prevention of climatic crisis and socio-economic inequalities.
