They are also used in livestock feeding and veterinary practices. Unfortunately, there are some drawbacks to yeast activity, because they can cause spoilage of many commodities, while pathogenic infections do occur, albeit rare, in immunocompromised persons. Also, they can lead to allergic reactions.
